Honorary Past Grand Master John Turner (L) receives his certificate of Honor from WM John Ferguson (and fellow veteran). The certificate, signed by Oregon Governor Kate Brown, acknowledges His service in WWII and commemorates the end of WWII 70 years ago. HGM Turner served in the U.S. Army Air Corp flying 21 missions as a gunner on B-17's. Brother Turner made a career out of the Army after WWII rising to the rank of Colonel and his service included multiple tours of duty overseas and at the Pentagon. He is truly a hero from the "Greatest Generation" and the title of his personal auto-biography "Uphill all the Way" details the many adventures and experiences in his life. Note: The certificates came about through the efforts of fellow veteran Earl Schroeder. Earl and Bother Turner are fellow members of VFW post 8138 in Sisters, OR.
