LOCAL NEWS & HAPPENINGS

We’ve had a busy month!
• Sept. 4 Brother George Trahern attended Occasional Grand Lodge in Grants Pass.
• Sept. 25 – Grand Master Ed Bousquet’s Reception and luncheon at Chloes North Redmond Station was fun with great food.
• Sept 25 - Grand Electa Nellie Baker’s Reception and delicious prime rib dinner was held at the VFW with a full house and a wonderful program.
• Sept 26 - Worthy Grand Patron Garrett Cooke’s reception and BBQ at Madras brought lots of people from all over the state for great comrade, delicious food, and nice program including his daughter who sang..
• New Masons. In August, we were proud to bring in two new, young members to our Lodge with petitions pending on two more. Way to go!

• Central OR Shrine Club participated in the Burns Rodeo parade on Sept 11th and had a great barbeque at Divan member, Bill Quier’s home.
Sept. 18th and 19th brought the Shrine Circus to town.

• O.E.S. Oct. 4 - 7:30 pm Regular meeting
• Oct. 11 Masons Lasagna dinner at 6 pm, Wives and guests are invited to the dinner at 6:00 and a speaker which will be at 7:00. Lodge meeting following the speaker while the wives and guests have dessert.
(Lodge members will have their dessert following their meeting.)
Dinner will be lasagna (choice of vegetarian or meat), rolls, salad
with choice of dressing, coffee and tea, and dessert.
Donation for dinner would be appreciated.

• Oct. 12 OES Grand Visitation 7:30 pm at Concordia Chapter. Dinner at 6 pm
• Oct. 23 Shrine Food Caravan with the Central OR Shiners taking truck loads of food to the Shrine Hospital in Portland

• Oct. 25 1 pm EA degree at Redmond Lodge
• Past Master Luncheons. We continue to meet on the fourth Wednesday of the month at the Big O Country Nook for luncheon and fellowship. We had a good turn out at the Past Masters meeting this last month,
so come and enjoy the fellowship. There is room for more at the Big "O" at the nook, on the 27th at 11:30 AM.

• Oct. 30 10 am Occasional Grant Lodge at Bend Masonic Center. Lunch at noon

Remember that the Redmond Masonic Center is available to rent for wedding receptions and meetings. Call Doug Poletti at 541 504-9877.

SICKNESS AND DISTRESS

Mason Brother to Brother
Mission Statement
The Brother to Brother Program is a lodge driven program to enhance
the skills of all Masons to RETAIN, REVITALIZE, and RENEW their
membership by empowering the Lodge with the right ideas and tools.
WHAT IS THIS PROGRAM

This program is designed to rekindle and expand interest in each and
every brother. The objective is to create a stronger sense of belonging
and to include family and friends in lodge activities whenever possible,
to offer more diverse programs in lodge and to have better lodge
management.
HOW DO WE DO THIS?

RETAINTo retain the interest of those brothers who have been
Masons less than a year and candidates who have not completed the
degrees. They need to be supported well after completion of degrees.
Masonic books should be made available, contacts by phone, letter,
or in person to let them know we are interested in them.
REVITALIZE
To rekindle and maintain the interest of those brethren who attend
lodge on a regular or infrequent basis. Emphasis is on lodge
management. (If you build it, they will come.) Good planning and
preparation so that Lodge meetings that can be opened and
closed without reading. Good ritual work. Start on time and stay
on track during a meeting and get finished so everyone can go
home at a reasonable time. Having a Stated Communication with
dignity, humor and fun. Provide enjoyable activities, opportunity for
service, leadership opportunities, family participation, and networking
with our peers. Providing consistent, better and diverse programs
before or after the meeting to spark interest and give members, guests,
and families something to look forward to.
RENEW
To renew the interest of members and sojourners who no
longer attend lodge. Identify Sojourners through the Secretary
who can contact the Grand Secretary and get pertinent information.
Once identified, each inactive Mason should be contacted by telephone
and followed up by a letter expressing our interest. Try to find
out why they are not attending, what are they doing,
what would get his interest, why did they join, and why do
they remain members. Find something to do for shut-ins who
cannot attend regular meetings such as being on a telephone
committee, coaching, mentoring, or serving on a committee that
could meet in his home. Make him feel needed and useful.
WHO OVERSEES THAT WE DO THESES THINGS
The Worshipful Master assumes the overall responsibility for this
program with help from Brothers appointed as a Committee and also
a Program Chairman. It is his responsibility to recognize that things
happen because someone in charge makes them happen.
WHAT DO WE WANT TO SEE HAPPEN WITH THIS PROGRAM?
The Brother to Brother Program is about people. We must identify the reasons for poor attendance and restore our missing Brothers to their place in the Lodge.
